Development of the first vertical stroke action mechanical harvesters

In the 1960s, Nelson Shaulis at Cornell University developed a vertically vibrating and spiked wheel shaker mounted on a tractor and the first mechanical harvester with vertical stroke action for GDC trellis was developed by Ortman Brothers in New York;  in the late 1960s research on mechanical harvesting commenced at CSIRO in Australia
